About the Mill Levy Override (MLO)

The 2026 RFSD Mill Levy Override is an opportunity to invest directly in the success of our local students, teachers and schools.

The Roaring Fork School District is now the fourth most expensive place to live in Colorado, with costs up nearly 19% since 2023, yet we rank in the bottom third of the state for per-pupil funding and only 16th in average teacher salary.

The State of Colorado sets how much money each school district receives per student, and recently rewrote that formula in a way that cuts the amount that districts with high cost of living like ours receive, even as the real cost of educating our students keeps climbing.

The legislature recognized the harm its own funding change caused and gave affected districts a limited window, through 2030, to ask local voters to help close the gap. This Mill Levy Override does exactly that: it replaces revenue the state took away. It is not new spending on top of what the district already needs.

Vote yes on 5C to keep great teachers in our classrooms and protect the quality of education our students depend on.
