Strong schools benefit the whole Roaring Fork community.

Strong schools help stabilize property values, support local businesses, and make it easier for families and employers to stay in our community. Despite being the 8th wealthiest state in the nation, Colorado ranks in the bottom half of states for per-pupil school funding. The Roaring Fork Valley is the 4th most expensive place to live in Colorado, but ranks 16th in teacher pay, meaning it’s hard to recruit and retain the best staff for local students. When our schools struggle to retain quality teachers, everyone in the Roaring Fork Valley feels it.

The 2026 RFSD Mill Levy Override

This November, voters that live in the Roaring Fork School District will be asked whether or not they approve this Mill Levy Override. This measure is intentionally designed to support:

  • increasing staff and teacher pay,

  • retaining and recruiting high quality teachers and staff, and

  • strengthening academic outcomes and eliminating achievement gaps.

Based on current enrollment projections, RFSD anticipates the MLO will generate $5M annually.
